Hair Today, Prune Tomorrow - Hair Transplant from Kinky Source
by sheryl rosen

"Science & Medicine" | August 13, 2011 | New York -

After years of research and a multitude of clinical trials, Dr. Harry Muff of the Muff Hair Institute has received a patent and FDA approval for a new hair transplant procedure unlike any other whereby hair is taken from the pubic region of a donor source, mixed to a custom blend with other donor sources and then grafted onto a recipient’s balding spots.

Previously many notable dermatologists and neurosurgeons including Felix Unger, of Boca Raton, Fla., NY’s Park Avenue and Toronto, who also happens to be the namesake of Neil Simon’s neurotic character in the Broadway show and later a television sitcom both called The Odd Couple, had been the top expert in the field performing more than 1,000 procedures monthly in his offices at a cost in excess of $35,000 per head.   It probably was no coincidence that the character with the same name came into being after Mr. Simon had visited Dr. Unger’s office back in 1966 when both were new and in their respective fields.  At that time Mr. Simon received several treatments to prevent further hair loss including a strict regiment of scalp massage, steam to open pours, and chemical stimulation.  It was reported, but not proven, that Mr. Unger was using an unknown chemical compound pumice; a formula speculated to have included a combination of vaginal secretion and semen.    Results from Mr. Unger’s program varied but had significant improvement in all cases thus thrusting Mr. Unger from a clinical director to the position he assumes today at the helm of his massive practice.

While Mr. Unger is credited as being the father of the hair transplant industry, having also been the first surgeon to graft hair follicles from one place in a patients head to another, Mr. Unger faced the demands of a competitive marketplace when hair transplant offices sprouted up in every city on every continent.  By the early 21st century Mr. Unger again proved his aptitude when he perfected the micro-graft procedure where a follicle is removed and split into several pieces each one forming a new root where transplanted.

It is at that time when Dr. Muff took a position in Dr. Unger’s practice.

Dr. Muff left Dr. Unger’s practice in 2008 in order to establish the Muff Hair Institute with a grant from The Telly Sevalis Foundation and donations from Brazilian Hair Wig Importers.

Previously, micro-grafting had been the most popular procedure until this latest discovery.  In clinical trials Mr. Harry Muff had been experimenting with removal of both male and female pubic hairs for the micro-graft procedure.  It was then in combination with Mr. Unger’s chemical compound pumice that Mr. Muff noticed and began to document improved results.

According to the patents made public today, Mr. Muff’s procedure calls for a match of hair type between donor and recipient so that a breakdown of several categories is catalogued.  In the documents there are noted categories for Jet Black Oriental, Brown Nappy Negro, Red/Brown Rastafarian, and Grey wavy European amongst several others.   According to the complex patent the sex of the donor is noted, as well as a complicated formula which can create hybrid breeds in mixture of the noted categories in order to get a perfect match to the recipient’s natural hair.

In first stage trials, recipient patients complained of toupee like results with the pubic hair transplant looking very much like the old fashioned, and appropriately called, rugs; not a good match to their own.  In second stage trials great improvement was shown with the exception of additional growth occurring on other areas of the recipient’s face with the coarse texture of the pubic hair.  Finally in the stage three trials Mr. Muff added the chemical compound pumice which served to eliminate the facial hair growth but the texture of the hair transplant match was not yet perfected.  Perfection came with the cross grafting of donor hair whose design is specified in a 200 page filing.

Stage four recipients cited full satisfaction 5 years after the grafting procedure, a milestone due to the typical additional hair loss patients commonly suffer from in areas outside of the original scope.  None of the stage four recipients reported further hair loss in any head area with occasional exception to some pubic areas, a side effect none affected claimed to have minded.  One vocal recipient praised both doctors for their contributions in science but also thanked them for the unexpected cost savings stemming from the no longer need of feminine hygiene product purchases.
